Target
Learning to speak, listen, read and write the Dutch language at level A2.
Contents
You work with the book and the computer programme Nieuwe Buren.
In class you work together with fellow students on speaking and writing skills in particular.
Throughout the whole programme you are coached by an experienced teacher. At home you work with the computer programme on listening, reading, pronunciation and vocabulary at your own pace.
The Nieuwe Buren programme in workbook 1 leads you from level 0 up to level A1. The programme Nieuwe Buren 1 is concluded by a test.
Nieuwe Buren workbook 2.This programme leads you from level A1 up to level A2. This is the level of the Civic Integration Examination. The programme Nieuwe Buren 2 is concluded by a test.
Duration
We hold on to the following guideline: 1 evening session (90 minutes) goes with at least 1 hour of computer work at home.
The programme Nieuwe Buren offers you limitless language acquisition possibilities at your computer at home!
The Nieuwe Buren 1 programme demands a minimal time investment of 100 hours.
The Nieuwe Buren 2 programme (from level A1 to level A2) demands a minimal time investment of 125 hours on average.
These hours are spread over classes and computer hours at home.
Your own pace and style of learning, as well as your being able to spend time on the programme at home are important factors. Your pace and style of learning cannot easily be influenced, but the time spent learning at the computer is something you can determine yourself.
Intake and language test
We start with an admission interview. During this interview the intaker forms an image of your speaking skills. Then you do a study skills test and a language test.
The results of the language test determine the level at which you can start: Nieuwe Buren 1 or Nieuwe Buren 2.
You may also follow a programme only partly. For instance, you could start halfway programme 1 or 2.
There is no need to take the language test when you can show us a recent certificate stating your level of Dutch as a second language. This certificate should not be older than six months.
Prices
Per period of 10 weeks.
Price € 315. This includes limitless access to the programme Nieuwe Buren at home, but excludes the purchase of books.
Per week you attend two 90-minute lessons.
Whenever a lesson cannot be given (e.g. because of illness of the teacher) this lesson can be made up for some other time.
The lessons the student misses cannot be made up for.
The admission interview costs € 52.
Start
Whenever we have enough students, we shall start a group at level 0.
As regards the other levels: a direct start in a group could be possible, depending on your personal level.
